Board Secretary

Description:

Health4Heroes Secretary serves as an Executive level Board Member, and provides administrative support through the timely and accurate collection and sharing of information directly related to Board activities. The Secretary ensures that the Board is well informed, and that its activities are well documented for the use of Board members and relevant government bodies.

    Retains copies of the organization's bylaws and the Board's policy statements.

    Keeps lists of officers, Board Members, and committee members.

    Notifies Board Members of meetings, and keeps record of attendance.

    Makes sure that there is a quorum at Board meetings (minimum number of Members required to make the proceedings valid).

    Keeps accurate Minutes of meetings, records all motions and decisions, and signs Board Minutes to attest to their accuracy.

    Distributes copies of Minutes and actions to Board Members promptly after meetings.

    Conducts general Board correspondence, and retains of record of that correspondence.

    Signs official documents of the organization as required.

    Chairs Board meetings in the absence of the Board Chair and Vice-Chair.

    Qualifications:

    Strong desire to serve Veterans & First Responders while advancing the Health4Heroes mission.

    Strong computer literacy

    Minimum 1 year experience in administration or clerical work

    Knowledge of nonprofit practices and record keeping

    Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

    Knowledge of Compliance policies and procedures

    Good time management skills

    Active participation in self-care, in line with Health4Heroes mission and values.

    Ability and willingness to represent Health4Heroes in the local community

    Preferred

    Understanding of the needs of the local Veteran & First Responder community

    As a member of the Board of Directors of Health4Heroes, I have a legal and ethical responsibility to ensure that the organization does the best work possible in pursuit of its goals.

    I understand that as a Board Member, I have a duty of loyalty and obedience. I support Health4Heroes mission and pledge my commitment in carrying out the Health4Heroes mission, and will consistently act responsibly and prudently.

    I understand that my legal, fiscal and moral responsibility requires me to:

    Maintain attendance at 75% of all monthly Board meetings (nine of 12 annually).

    Actively participate in one or more committees (e.g., Fundraising Committee; Budget & Finance Committee).

    Uphold my commitment to serve the Board for six hours per month, broken out as follows: 90 minute Board meeting, 90 minute committee meeting, and three hours completing Board tasks and actively representing Health4Heroes as a spokesperson in the community where I promote the mission, vision and funding goals of Health4Heroes.

    Provide a personal monetary contribution to Health4Heroes. This may be given as a one-time donation each year, or in mutually agreed installments during the course of the year. I agree to donate $________ per year, an amount I consider generous.

    Inform the Board should there come a time where I am no longer able to fulfill my obligations to the organization as a Board Member, and resign my position in accordance with the organization's bylaws.

    Qualifications:

    Seeking skilled professional with a passion for serving our community of Veterans and First Responders. Qualified applicants will have business experience, a professional network of resources to contribute, basic computer skills, excellent communication skills, knowledge of Microsoft and Google software platforms.

Assistant Chapter Captain

Description:

Help to grow our impact by Assisting the Chapter Captain with team management, event planning, member engagement, etc. help to create community for our members in fort Collins.

Effective business and interpersonal communication skills, passion for promoting health & wellness, self starter, team player, desire to positively impact the lives of veterans, first responders, and their families.

Membership Coordinator

Description:

Encourage member sign-ups and manage membership profiles. Assist with membership enrollment as needed.

Qualifications:

Ability to encourage potential members to invest in their health and sign-up to gain support.

Outreach Coordinator

Description:

Coordinate Health4Heroes' participation at relevant community events.
Work to bring awareness around the services and programs we offer.
Qualifications:

Intermediate computer skills required. Must be able to easily navigate the internet, social media, and other communication platforms.

Committees

Fundraising Committee Member

Committee Member Expectations

• Attend and participate in regular Fundraising Committee meetings.
• Members will actively participate in the Fundraising Committee by:
•Providing enough time during the year to support Health4Heroes' goals
•Attending at least 70% of regularly scheduled meetings (approx. 7/10 per year)
• Providing feedback and contributing ideas as needed • Taking on tasks from the fundraising plan
• Communicate effectively with team through email.
• Respond to emails within 2-3 days.

    • 4-8 hours per month (include meeting and outreach events)

    • Attend Monthly or Bi-monthly Committee meetings

    Ability to contribute to the following Fundraising Committee Roles and Responsibilities

    • Review all previous year fundraising activity and make recommendations for improvements for new fiscal year.

    • Work with fundraising staff to determine annual development budget.

    • Revise and update current fund development plan.

    • Develop an annual calendar for the committee's activities, including critical dates, milestones and required board actions.

    • Engage in advocacy and networking.

    • Participate in annual special events and other fundraising activities.

    • Track and report progress toward fundraising goals to the Board.

    • Analyze relationships with current and prospective major donors and funders and develop individualized strategies to cultivate or strengthen those relationships.

    • Analyze relationships with current and prospective corporate sponsors, devise sponsorship packages, and work with staff and Board to develop relationships.

    • Along with President & CEO, meet with current and prospective major donors and funders (foundations and corporations).

    • Tap respective networks for potential donors of money, time and in-kind support.

    • Monitor & support fundraising efforts to be sure that ethical practices are in place, that donors are acknowledged appropriately, and that fundraising efforts are cost-effective.

    • Provide report out during full Board meetings (Board Chair)
